qft. Needless is supposed to be over the top funny. It's ecchi action parody, it's not supposed to be serious or mean anything. I like both shows, but you can't really compare them.

Akira Toriyama (who created Dragonball among other things) is a legendary artist. He was around long before Naruto and deserves at least the respect of not being compared to it. They're both shounens, but if you're going to compare a "shitty mainstream anime" to something similar, try something else that is also recent, like Bleach.
in before "Hey, remember when Bleach and Naruto had an actual plot and weren't just ridiculous fight sequences strung together?" The spoiler is those plots are just set up to enable lots and lots of fight scenes anyway. And Kubo even admits he forgets most of his plot even while drawing his pages.
Yeah, maybe in the first episodes (honestly they're the best part of the series), but its all too serious outside short bursts of fanservice after Nia.
Besides TTGL is general is the Haruhi of Super Robot shows. A great modern rendition of more classic plot and character aspects but the fact its taken as some peerless example of true art makes it horribly overrated.
Who the Fuck thinks TTGL is any less than epic? That's one of the best animes ever made! (especially the second part.) I honestly think they should be forced to watch reruns of Naruto for all eternity, and drink pisswater.

I think everyone's missing that Kamina and his counterpart are brofisting. It's Yoko and Kitan/whoever their counterparts are who are feeling a little threatened.
