This seems to be a rather impractical chicken-walker / mech / exosuit... thing. At least it's good for squishing giant scorpions I guess.

Well it's obviously meant to be some sort of armed vehicle, and yet the occupant is notably unarmored. At least a motorcycle or one of those Star Wars speeder bikes have speed to their advantage when it comes to evading fire (not that it'd help much). A bipedal walker like this would be just about the slowest thing out there, and setting an unarmored driver on top is sort of asking for them to be picked off it.

Bipedal mecha do have the ability to dash so they do not have to constantly walk/run (I cannot remember what the term for such is called). Pretty much the mecha would squat and something underneath the feet - tires or treads for example - would come out, allowing the mech to be that much more speedy.

Scouter type vehicles really do not have a lot to offer in terms of protection so this pilot must be VERY confident in her abilities!

That's awesome 'yeah, walkers aren't very good, but you could always give them a wheel for when they need to go fast'

a two legged walker would be incredibly unstable, people trip all the time and they don't start at a ton. sure, it could sprint and shit but a wheeled vehicle could go faster.

The main advantage would be terrain accessibility and agility, not speed. When under fire, armored vehicles that can't dash forward not caring about anything, are pretty much fucked. Dodging RPG's wouldn't be necessarily a sci-fi thing anymore. Yes, the issue today is stability, but it's been already achieved on a four-legged construction, everything is just a matter of time.

I'm quite sure that dashing forward not caring about anything while riding that, would pretty much nullify your testicles from existence.

I meant ordinary today's APC/IFVs. The point was, you wouldn't need to do that under fire anymore, as you would have the maneuverability to effectively return fire without being a sitting duck. Also, you would be able to spot ambushes easier.

Nevertheless, this particular construction is pointless as a real fighting vehicle, as there's no operator protection whatsoever.
