It's a centauroid creature. Basically anything that has the upper body of a human connected to the body of a multi-legged animal is a centaur or taur.

Not according to the Greeks, baby.

Centaurs are half-human and half-horse or they are just not centaurs.

Why not use the term "chimera"?
    Is there a chimera tag?

Chimeras are usualy a mix of creatures without human parts. I know I've seen this sort of thing before. I'll check & get back to it.

It's like necromancy - nobody cares that it used to mean 'divining by the dead', everyone thinks of raising skeletons and zombies.
Centauroids that are not centaurs are rare, do you really want another tag just to separate them?

The term "chimera" applies to homo sapiens too, but not only that: There's an actual medical condition usually called chimerism, and it has been observed on humans. Basically a person is not an individual but two, because they have two distinct sets of DNA.

In fact, some lady called Lydia Fairchild was proven to be the aunt of her children. The real mom was Lydia's sister, who was never actually born. Also, there's an episode of doctor House that deals with the condition.

There's a documentary about Lydia called "I Am My Own Twin"

TL;DR: The term does apply to humans!

Interesting. Anyway, I couldn't find the thing I thought I saw this in. However this is closer to a shpinx than a centaur, so I'm gonna change the tag

Chimaera in overall terms refers to a mixture of different species. While the original "centaur" from Greek Mythology may refer just to the horse-man, I think this may very well count as a "centauroid" since the physical build is the same. (Like, the animal part still has all the limbs instead of just the hind legs like with a satyr, for example.)
