You know, when I think of Lain and Rei meeting, I'm thinking ultra-human-hive-mind-apocalypse, or teaming up to use their phenomenal-nearly-cosmic powers to protect the world from supervillains, or bonding over being autistic. Not signing up with the McD gang and mugging people smugly.

Honestly, I'd love to get to see Rei living as a human and selling burgers, at least she'd have autonomy of her own, hopefully on a world that has been already reset... so her body is completely human on that new era, in which her existence would NOT depend on LCL fluid to main her form. At least she would get to live a life, not exist as a tool living left to exist on a unkempt living building. It's kind of heart warming seeing Rei in any other way of life besides being part of Nerv
