It is related to Cryptids.

Katze appears to be based on the cryptid blue/maltese tiger of china mountains. Or the blue mountain panther.

"Yuuma-kai" is a pun. The Japanese people call cryptids "UMA (Unidentified Mysterious Animal)."
They have been surprising human beings as cryptids in the outside world. One day, they came over to Gensoukyou to recruit new staff, but...

Anyway, those are among my favorite touhou OC's. I wish they could be canon.

A late response, but I've changed my mind and assume she is a chupacabra girl.
This creature is physically characterized for its red eyes and a row of spines reaching from the neck to the base of the tail, that resembles her hairstyle. It is a kind of vampire and makes 2 to 5 puncture wounds / holes on the victim's body as if it has been dug by some long and fine sharping object. ("Ana" means "hole" in Japanese.) There are various theories for its real identity, some of them say "it is an experimental animal to which the military had applied some physical modification by gene manipulation" and some others say "it is an extraterrestrial life".

Cryptips, huh?... I wonder if they ever heard of Usami Sumireko Before? I'm sure she would very much glee in excitment to see such cryptids being in gensokyo afterall.
