While I can get being distracted by it covering Bridget's clothes, moving it to the empty space isn't an automatic solution. Sometimes people want the X-ray to be exactly where it actually is, rather than relegating it to another panel or whatever. If you moved it, it wouldn't cover Bridget's clothes anymore, but it'd lose a lot of the appeal for some people, and the artist might very well have cared more about the latter point than the prior.
