Nah, the problem is primarily about Mai's war on the "demon" that is actually the supernatural power of Mai.

It's all but taken care of by the end of their story arc.

(Granted, Kanon is not known for being Yuri, but Yuuichi already has Ayu and Nayuki......)

My theory on this picture is that Mai, not knowing the truth about the demon, proceeds to kill herself so that Sayuri won't be hurt because of her struggle, but Sayuri doesn't want to live without Mai at all.

How is that even possible? The sword is going through her from the back. If either of the two did it, I should say it was Sayuri, for whatever odd reason she has.

Yeah, in the double suicide scenario I theorized, Sayuri can still be the one thrusting the sword.
