I can definitely see them bonding over their similar origins: Both were survivors after the majority of their race was destroyed, were raised by surrogate human parents, both lost their surrogate parents at a young age (well, depending on the canon Supermans parents are still alive), and both gained their powers from Earth (the sun for Superman and martial arts training for Goku).
I think Toriyama was partially inspired by Superman when writing Goku's origin in Z, although I'm not 100% certain on that.
