Perceptive fans may have already noticed Youkai Form and Dark Power weren't in the original, being new systems for the console release. The former lets characters transform into the mythical monster they are based on and can be performed without a full gauge, lasting til they run out. Like switching characters, the change time is short and carries few risks.
Dark Power gives access to previously unplayable boss characters (Shadow Lord, Zilart Brothers, etc.) or form changes like Kimeramaru depending on the medium. These do require a full gauge and taking hits depletes it faster. As a trade-off they are vastly more powerful and can interrupt attacks with their activation.
Both are a powerful asset so try them at every chance! Just remember they take longer than other gauge abilities to charge!

BattGlutt fighting tip: Reimu's Onimiko and Sanae's YuruSanae modes ignore hit-stun from regular attacks, making their counter-throws especially dangerous combined with their pursuit attacks. Special attacks performed using a Fierce Attack will cause hit-stun so remember where to use them!

Unleash an unstoppable blast that blows away everything before you! The iconic Combination Super Attack, Double Master Spark!

As part of the Two VS Two battles, certain teams can perform combination Super Attacks. It consumes 2 meters but the sum is stronger than its parts and can be canceled into from regular Special Moves. Characters acting as a unit can perform these on their own. Every character has at least one other they can use a combination Super with, but some have several. See if you can find them all!
Unit characters can also have their teammate join in to take it one more step further. The Autumn Sisters are especially versatile with a meter that fills quickly and attack that can compliment many others.
