No really, what kind of interaction is 'click to claim/level up' supposed to represent in gacha affection systems anyway?
Just a guess, at least with Arknights trust in particular, it's likely to be a casual exchange or interaction, much like the ones you'd get from having them as a secretary. With multiple interactions over time allowing them to get to know you and vice versa, resulting in Trust.
