I keep telling people there is nothing cute about most of the touhou girls as they are dangerous youkais. I guess 90% of them don't even know the idea of being a youkai.

Makes me wonder though the translation as Keine and Mokou also appear in this comic.

They're probably the ones to try and exterminate her.

I've always wanted to read a Touhou manga where they actually show the girls eating people.
Too bad no one wants to translate them. T^T

The book does mention that outsiders that mistakenly end up in gensokyou and hermits still do tend to get eaten, though. And some other group of people involving some "road of reconsideration" or something.
And yes, I read part of Momento.

Yeah, by random semi-conscious youkai. Definitely not by the regular ones that appear in the games and regularly interact with the people in the village / wherever.

The idea behind youkai/human relationship in Gensokyo nowadays could be summed up by something a wise /jp/ Anon said:

    Rumia:
According to comments about her in the Bunbunmaru Newspaper and in Perfect Memento it seems that she's constantly surrounded by a mass/blob of darkness at all times except during the new moon, and so is rarely actually seen in person. Despite her innocent appearance, she eats humans.

Just an example, im sure mystia does eat humans, and so does other animal-like wild youkais.

Not sure about Mystia, and I think most Gensokyo humans can avoid being eaten by Rumia. Wriggle? Could go either way really. for all we know the guy might have been dead already; bugs are scavengers after all.

Judging by the clothes, I'd think that the dude is the man who appeared two pages ago with the little girl who might be his daughter. And that bug perched on the corpse looks like the same one that was on the little girl's neck.

So yeah, she probably killed 'im, or was responsible in some way.

Why would Mystia kill the people she needs as customers for her lampray stand? if anything since lampray is supposed to help nightblindness, shes nightblinding them so they think "oh we need lampray to get better" shes got the the whole idea perfected down to a T

Even if it's in Rumia's description and she talks about it all the time, according to both PMiSS and Bohemian Archive, she's too dumb, weak, and lazy to attack humans.

Wriggle has a 'normal' friendship level with them in PMiSS. In Bohemian Archive she briefly begins a service to help them, if only to prove the worth of bugs. Regardless, she hates insecticide, a human invention, and dislikes how much bugs have fallen. She's pretty impetuous, but there's still nothing of her attacking humans aggressively with the intent to kill.

In PMiSS, Mystia's friendship level with humans is ranked as poor. There's a line where it talks of her luring them in so she can attack them. That's if other youkai don't get to them first. She also talks of attacking humans in PCB and PoFV and also of going to the Human Village to play around with the humans there.

Anyway, assuming she isn't talking of "attacking" jokingly, as most in Touhou do, she's a threat to the population with her ability, even if she's never killed anyone a day in her life.

However, most dialogue in Touhou is said is in jest, canonical depictions are sometimes vastly different, and it's already confirmed by Akyuu that PMiSS is dated, exaggerated, and unreliable. In all, bright and happy nor grimdark Touhou is true.

You can see the top of the little girl's head just past the man's corpse on the big panel with Wriggle. So, yeah, she used some kind of scorpion to murder them.

    Man falls prey to us.
They die when we eat them.

    That human isn't moving anymore.
Ohh, we feed upon humans. Humans feed upon us not!
    Prey... Aah, prey, prey!
They don't move when they die.
