I really love the game, but Hope is like the worst character ever. He dies always my other characters almost never die and he dies in every fight that is a little harder. I don't like Hope.

Actually Hope is a rather useful character. Apparently you probably don't know how to use him. I've seen tons of game vids where people use him MORE than say Vanille or Snow. And he's pretty useful.
Im glad someone agree's about Hope. hope dies more than shit Dx he's a terible healer even when i maxed out everything i hope he gets better if im later stuck with his ass -3-
I have to disagree with the Hope haters. He's a really good character, you just don't know how to use him. He has low hp but he makes up for it with his great potential. Plus he's a life saver with his powerful heals.
I agree, Hope is pretty dumb....and I mean dumb in character itself. There is always going to be that annoying character in the end. Besides, his whole personailty change was for-seen to begin with. He's a baby - Grows-up And he's just annoying. Not to say, he's not all to well in battle. But im on chap. 5. He does get a little better. Hope is or suppose to have the highest Magic stats, but I just think he's a dumb chara. overall.
See, I liked Hope. He's a really good Ravager. I admit, he's annoying and whiny, but if you think about it...it makes perfect sense. I remember being like that when I was fourteen. Yeah, it was kinda foreseen that his development would be the maturing process, but again: He's fourteen. It would have been a bit ridiculous for them to develop him as some sort of battle frenzied brat, or the overly docile, innocent type. I liked his character because it was flawed. The flaws make the character more realistic. It's the same with all characters, if you think about it.
I don't like Hope. I use Vanille as my medic. And don't give me any bullshit about "I don't know how to use him." I use him when I need him (Hardly ever), and I use him just fine. But I've never came across any enemy or mission where Hope was more helpful than Vanille. It's pretty arrogant of someone to say this, by the way:
You not liking him = you not knowing how to use him.
So he's a good ravager AND a good medic? If only I had someone who could (VANILLE) Medic and Ravage too. Same goes with Snow too. The only time I ever used Snow (Apart from when I had to) was when Fang was my attacker, and I kept Snow on perma sentinel. Besides, at least Vanille doesn't die as much. I don't care how high his Magic is if he gets eaten alive by anything I dare use him for. It all comes down to personal preference, not us "not knowing how to use him." Maybe people don't know how to use Vanille.
Also: As of 100 hours into the game, I've never once used Hope's (Or Sazh's) Eidolon.
screw his skills i just think hes annoyin lol. i agree with mika, theres just gunna be an annoying char somewhere. hes like a mini cloud, but yea i see what yall saying. parents died, but yea "u killed my mom!" get over it, =_= jesus. his mom wanted to go. snow even asked if she was sure. hope sitting right there. but ya, all the chars got the flaws [i.e. snow and the whole HERO forever thing] hope is cute tho lol
Hope is an awesome character in terms of battle teams once he levels up a bit. As a character within the story, he's goddamn awful. He's a whiny and irritating conglomerate of Japanese cliches whose entire dramatic purpose depends on a series of events that are very poorly developed and flimsy at best. Yes, he does get better, but the damage done by his character by that point is permanent.
Been using the hell out of Hope. Good balance of magic-type skills, and hits damn.
How many people bitching about him got past chapter 9 or 10? There comes a point in the story where he very *abruptly* ceases whining and starts being one of the more outwardly determined of the group. By the time he gets Alexander, his character flaws are pretty solidly resolved.
I guess actual, honest-to-god character development is too much to swallow for the average FF fan, despite every game since 4 having at least one incredibly obvious case thereof?
I alternate between Hope and Vanille as healers. Hope has a shit-ton of magic (around 2k by the end of the game), but Vanille has a lot more health, higher healing capabilities (with the right equip), and the awesome DEATH spell. Hope is a SYN, though, which - if you play with Fang and Light in the party like me - allows you access to every role in battle. Personally, I like Vanille early-game, Hope end-game, and then after my Crystarium is complete I switch back to Vanille. Totally preference, however. :3
