I think people are more upset about the idea rather than the question itself. It’s really stupid but apparently interpreting a character as not straight is a big nono in the fandom of the series where Rin Tohsaka has sex with female King Arthur 🙄

That's a separate entity from Shirou as depicted here. Shirou isn't bisexual. Same way Shirou isn't a remorseless mass murderer because Emiya Alter exists.

because death of the author isn't a fact and it's not right to spread it as such. Writing interpretation and statement of fact are both valid to express, but not interchangeable. The mistake was stating it as a fact.

i mean its still better to correct someone politely than mass downvoting them. especially with this topic, you cant tell if people were upset because homophobia or if they were upset because false information unless they correct them (people still haven't even answered if Archer flirts with MHakuno), and again, would someone be wrong in assuming that Shirou could be bisexual from Fate/extra Archer? It's not 100% proof but there isn't proof against it either.

Fate/Extra takes place in a different timeline than Fate/Stay Night, any information found there is only applicable there.

Male and Female Hakuno share the same script with minor gender based changes. If there's any "flirting" in Male Hakuno's script with Archer that's because the script is unisex

Archer is the only servant male hakuno cant romance. You can have him date nero, tamamo and gil but nameless will still be your straight older brother.

The problem is when people try to paint it as canon when it isnt. If you want shirou to be bi, pan or trans all the more power to you as long as you dont try to force that view down people's throats. There exists hundreds of thousands of gay ship art of shirou and no one bats an eye because we know it isnt canon and its there to please the people that enjoy it

right that's fine, I didn't know about the Fate/extra Archer stuff so this wasn't me arguing if that's canon or not. But at the same time there is no real confirmation of Shirou's sexuality one way or the other. Unless theres something about it I don't know about, people are likely downvoting the art due to the artist interpreting Shirou's character as bisexual, and there really shouldn't be a problem there. Making a fate lgbt pride post isnt a statement on canon. Hell, if you wanted to you could interpret this art as Rin and Sakura just teasing Shirou without him being bi. Anyway point is, nobody here is forcing bisexual Shirou down your throats, Varum made a mistake, mass downvoting art because you disagree with a headcanon is dumb.

I downvoted it, cause the art quality isn't that great same as I do with other art. If others disagree and it has a positive rating, so be it. It's popular opinion at the end of the day. I wouldn't call "-15" mass downvoting on a site with 500k+ (back when I first joined) users, but eh~

Most straight men act like that because it's fucking weird to be asked to sit in another guy's lap. Bromatic stuff happens a lot in Irish and Celtic myth, but Shiro is a modern japanese teen, they don't do that stuff.

Keep in mind ateraxia shirou is actually angra. He mightve recreated the world and the characters with 100% accuracy with the only exception beinf shirou himself. Cuz he's role-playing shirou
