What she says is pretty heartwarming, yes. Whenever I see stuff like this, though, I find it very odd as in the anime I saw Ristsu harass Mio and get jealous of Nodoka more than she supported and/or looked after Mio. In fact, Mio did more looking after Ristsu than the other way around. That always made me kind of shake my head at these sorts of fan scenes. (And the Mio/Ritsu shipping) Frankly, I was happy when Mio finally called Ristsu on her shit, and disappointed when she basically apologised for doing so after Ritsu got sick. Still, taken in a vacuum: Awww...

It's easy to blame Mio's issues on Ritsu, but it's just as easy to blame her good traits on Ritsu as well; Ritsu is the reason she got into music and got into the club. And the truth is that she does call Ritsu out; all the time in fact. Maybe not verbally, but she makes her feelings quite clear when laying her fist across Ritsu's head. Beyond that, she does have her moments where she busts Ritsu's chops, knocks her down a few pegs or lays into her numerous flaws.

Not only does this keep Ritsu in line, it shows just how far Mio's come. The old Mio couldn't act with that much confidence, she was barely able to withstand compliments without getting embarrassed. In a way Ritsu goes to lengths to make herself the target of Mio's aggression, and in that give her something else to feel besides shame. And as this comic shows, when Mio gets too scared or too embarrassed, Ritsu is the one who brings her spirits back up again.

Ritsu isn't playing on Mio's weakness, she's helping her build an immunity to them.
