Actually, Mima's influence kinda made Marisa pretty bitter in the first place. Mima had a hatred for the Hakurei Family. So that in turn made Marisa the same. Its just that somehow, Marisa and Reimu did end up freinds nontheless and Mima stopped trying to kill Reimu. I say Rinnoske probably had a hand in all this. Since Rinnoske was quite freindly with both the Kirsame and the Hakurei Family.

wow i didnt know that i do you have a source i could read up on this cuz i want to draw marisa's father but i have to capture is personality first i was think maybe a young-ish looking man with blonde hair but after i read this i may have to add a....beard(DX)lol
There's no proof she was disowned or of her father being some kind of asshole. Little more than the fact that they're estranged is known much less the why and how of it.
Perfect Memento and Curiosities of Lotus Asia both mention it only briefly.
PMiSS simply says, "she's cut off all relations there," so Marisa could have been the one who chose to leave.
CoLA has Marisa saying she won't go back to live with her parents... which, in that chapter, is also related to Rinnosuke and his relationship with her.
However, while she kind of avoids the subject when Rinnosuke mentions her father later, she doesn't seem to hate him, at least.
Her father, meanwhile, has an okay, if somewhat cooled, relationship with Rinnosuke. This is despite their own falling out, having not seen each other for a decade, and Rinnosuke's much better relation with her. Based on this, while he may be stubborn, I doubt think he's the type to seriously hold grudges.

Thing is after the second game and all she seems to have dropped the grudge, merely being content to harass/annoy Reimu at times.

I always imagined Marisa's father resembling Van Hohenheim from Fullmetal Alchemist: blond hair, glasses, a well-trimmed beard. Maybe not the ponytail, though.
