And yes, Mari's something of a Mary-sue in many regards. But for a person who doesn't particularly care about anything else regarding eva (as FeKa has suggested is their case) it's understandable that wouldn't bug them about Mari.

The movies are very nicely animated and the first one is pretty decent, overall. The second one has some retcon points that will probably make you nerdrage if you're a big fan of the series, but I'd recommend giving it a watch anyway just to see how it compares. I mean, it's not supposed to be a verbatim retelling, after all. Even though the changes make me (屮 О Д О)屮 a bit, I'm still in it to see how they run with things.

Anyway, this picture is just..holy cow. I nearly spat out my water when I spotted Kaworu. What is this a scan from?

I'm a big Eva fan and I loved the changes and absurd shit 2.0 pulled. It might've not been as good a movie as 1.0, but I was too busy shitting a brick every 45 seconds in the last third of the film to care. Once the new, shiny version of Zeruel showed up, I forgot entirely about 1.0's shapeshifting Ramiel.

Plus, it's not really a retcon. It's some sort of psuedo-reboot. It's another one of those 'alternate timeline' things they love to pull with Eva, except this one is in movie form.

I've been wondering who the artist of this is. To me it looks fairly Imaishi_Hiroyuki-esque but it looks kinda different from his style as well.

As it turns out, you weren't the only one questioning this. As it turns out, Imaishi wasn't among the artists to have worked on the calendar this work came from, while someone who was listed was Masayuki, who at the time was working on Imaishi's Panty & Stocking, so it is quite possible that this is his work rather than Imaishi's.

Slightly over a year after this was reuploaded to Danbooru from Yande.re, they had actually corrected this mistake, while we hadn't... which is embarrassing.
