Maybe just the entire "Gigantic Eyes, Small Mouth"-thing, as perpetuated by Kotobuki Tsukasa, CLAMP, and other prolific artists in the 90's.

Gotta say though, Mio having that "Cyberteam in Akihabara" design is creepy beyond belief.

So... considering the way things seem to be changing in this sequence... maybe a hypothetical 2020 version would be identical to the 1980 version?

Or maybe it goes in cycles, and we'll get something more like the 90's?

80s and 00s are fine; 90s is an abomination.

The biggest issue I had with the Saber Marionette style wasn't the eyes or the mouth, it was the awful cheeks. It's hard to explain why, but the cheeks made me want to punch somebody every time I saw them.
