Lightening has a personality of her own, Cloud never did. Lightening had anger and guilt issues, Cloud was just an emo git. Cloud has a penis and Lightening has a vagina. Really, there are numerous ways they are different and asking is short of silly.

Both games start off on Trains with Resistance movements and terrorist actions, which they both work for. And Although Sazh is the coolest XIII charcter, Cloud and Lightning both work for or with a black guy who uses a gun. No, Cloud is his own person, he WAS Zack Fair (personality, mannerisms etc) for about 23 hours of the game, after the lifestream incident...he reverted back to his original personality. He carries Zack's Legacy (among others) but he's his OWN person which is what Zack wanted...
Lightning is Fem!Cloud just more gung ho with pink hair..both are tappable so why is this a debate again?

The similarities are in their actions, thats what I was stating. Besides Nomura kinda said he wanted to make Lightning a Female Cloud.

He didnt want to, he did. I HATE admitting it considering how much more I love Lightning over Cloud..But Nomura DID say that Lightning is the female version of Cloud.

Not really if that was the case then we would all be a legacy to the people that we look up to. Mentors are there to help us along and if that is so then zack is a legacy to angeal.

Zack's and cloud's memories became entwined during hojo's experimentation as well as Sephiroth's manipulation over cloud. Which is why i mentioned the legacy. You are right about zack being cloud's mentor but the fact that his own personality was altered and become mixed with zack's past is why I believe he is not his own person until he enters the lifestream and figures it out himself afterwards.

you've obviously only seen the Advent Children movie, go play VII, Cloud is a badass and doesnt give a fuck about anything until he realizes that his whole life is pretty much the memory/memories of a former SOLIDER member that he's a clone of, though he snaps out of it later
