April 25, 1945: U.S. troops of the 69th Infantry Division met with Soviet troops of the 58th Guards Rifle Division near the German city of Torgau on the Elbe River. There are several famous photos of the event.

This reminds me of the opening of "Watchmen" , where one of the superheroes deep frenches a nurse one V-Day.
