I enjoyed "Rainbow Rocks", but clearly Equestria is the more entertaining world. Still, the Dazzlings were a fun group and I wanted to draw them. The problem is, I kind of wanted to do the Equestria version, and if we take the ghostly hippocampus forms that we saw as their "true" looks, well... They looked cool, but they lost all of their individuality by sharing the same model with just differing colors. I'm not surprised that many artists prefer to draw them as ponies instead.

So I tried to have the best of both worlds... Keep the sirens as sea-ponies and keep the general anatomy established in the movie, but also keep some suggestion of their human designs as well. Hopefully people will like the end result, even if it's not really canon at all.
