I think they are trying to appeal to a certain group. I wonder how Illustrious fans really feel about this type of canonical character development.

They do attract two distinct groups – some gentlemen who want to come and enjoy the feast; Flies and rats like you who try to intercept some crumbs and then return to the dirty corners for speculation. Her fans are rejoicing at the L2D and liking and loving her more (see for yourself) than some of the makers of -27, -12, -10, -9, etc., and brainless historical show-offs with no emotional intelligence, who believe that the L2D is trying to appeal to some "bad" group, betrays her fans.

While I agree, Let’s not pretend that Azur Lane hasn’t invited these “flies and rats” as you put it, at times by placing themselves into the dirty corner every now and then. They’re casting an ever widening net in attempts to invite as many people as they can, and in with these attempts they’ve ventured into increasing dubious taboos *cough* Ark Royal *cough* Bache *cough*

This skin isn’t exactly subtle. Not with the way they’ve worded her lines around it.

The theme of the skins of this event are about elementary school, Illustrious herself invites the commander into some baby play and you somehow are 100% sure im the one just put it out of my ass? I didnt came here to kinkshaming babyplayers but to express an answer based on my friends that indeed dont like that Illustrious,a. character that they considered regald and elegant would partake in such roleplay. Are they the authority of Illustrious fans? Not but they are fans. And if I believe you word then the great majority of them are happy.

You could easily say something like: I found out most Illustrious fans seem ok with this or they love it. Instead of going into a continous rant since for the last 4 months of you being here trying to attack AL fans that feel like some content recently have been a miss, either because isnt horny enough, censoring, or not being historical enough like some people percieved before.

Maybe AL was always an idol game with surface level navy motif because most people like you seem to imply that every time they slander people for liking the historical aspect, talk about it or ask more for it to Manjuu which sadly for me personally doesnt seem like they want to.

Maybe if Manjuu went full on idol collection from the beginning people like me wouldnt gadlight themselves into believing ww2 was the main thing.

But anyway, thanks, im leaving Azur Lane for good, i dont think my expression of dissapointment is helping people in any case. If anything is making me blind to the small things i really liked about AL.

Azur Lane has always been lewd since day one, with the second ship you get being bottomless Long Island. There's nothing wrong with AL being fanservicey; it once was a genuinely good game with a well-written story, in addition to having a hefty amount of fanservice.
I just wish it didn't feel like Manjuu was neglecting everything else-- story, non-lewd character designs, historical references-- in favor of trying to see how extreme they can go with the fanservice.

As for this skin? I don't care for it, but Illustrious is the "secretly lewd big sister" archetype, so I think it's perfect for her.

why are ppl even having essay length rants here. Azur Lane has always been a breast game with prominent feet and ass placement themed after naval vessels. the game's breast inflation was so much that even asanagi did a drawing (post #4112918) satirizing it. the character design, voicelines and story based on the vessel's history are the cherry-on-top here, and to their credit Manjuu did serious work researching it. but let's be honest to ourselves here and not pretend on why we're here in the first place?

    "Canonical character development"
In a pandering premium skin in a fanservice game with no actual story outside of flashback quests.

I haven't played the game in a while, but last time I did they had moved onto actual current day story.

    Still only in events.
the actual game's story ground to a halt in world 13 in 2019 because Japanese fans got critical of the game detailing their stand in fleet as the bad guys, when they *were* historically.

Well. Now that you've stated your views and attitudes, I'll tell you about mine.
Number one, I think the reason for your ill-intentioned intentions is that you've previously posted a lot of comments (at least in the opinion of some of us and others) about showing off your historical knowledge and so on under many of AL's pictures. Also, my sir, we can't be sure if your story (about "your fan friends") is true or made up for the sake of rebuttal. If you really want to confirm how her fans feel, why not go to a mass platform like X and check out the survey extensively, but simply come here to get one or two answers for or against, and think that her fans think this way through these pitiful number of people?
Second, I didn't "try to attack AL fans for the past 4 months". This seems so ridiculous to me because I'm a fan of AL in the first place. If so, please provide key evidence.
Third, my attitude towards the so-called "history", "story", and "character design" in games (especially this kind ACGN game) is very different from that of you and your comrades. In my opinion, they are not as closely related to real intellectual and literary writing as prose novels, historical documentaries, essays, etc. - those games are part of crazy entertainment in themselves, and it is not an exaggeration to say that there is "no real relationship". If you really want to explore good stories, character design, etc., why not go to the better places mentioned above, such as history and literature, but force yourself to come to this kind of place that is inherently sexual and mundane, and then pretend to say "I'm going to leave it"? These games aren't a good place for expert scholars, and some of the games that players praise aren't "expert scholars" and even worse in my eyes because of them, such as BA (I'm more trained in literature). You can't find a state banquet in a fast food restaurant, but sadly there are always some people who try to find it in vain, and even threaten the fast food restaurant because they can't find it, and some people put certain fast food restaurants on the crown because of some illusory gimmicks, just because they seem to be so-called "knowledgeable and high-quality", and they don't realize that they are actually worse in the eyes of professionals. This is actually more like the concept "bai zuo" that my Chinese friend mentioned to me (you can check it out for yourself on Internet).
In the end, I respect your views and reactions, but I will not obey them. I hope you can do the same. If you feel like you and I really aren't the same kind of person at all, then we can put it down together and never talk to each other about these topics anymore. Looking forward to and respecting your reply, my sir.

The "actual game's story" is the one that delves into the lore of the game and addresses stuff like the origin of Sirens and shipgirls and has been advanced steadily during major events.
The historical reenactment stuff was never an important (or interesting) plot thread.

Except it was the main reason there are "story mode" maps at all.

Well, it does seem to me like a better idea to have the plot progress along with the events that mostly all players can finish than to lock the story behind a very hard high level difficulty wall that only a handfull of players will ever see.

Barely related, but I dropped other games due to extremely high difficulty curves in the main story, like GFL and Arknights.

Also, again, only my opinion, but I don't really care that much about historical reenactment.

I play Arknights, and unless you stopped at chapter 8, which is not even remotely an "extremely high" difficulty curve if you just ignore the optional Challenge Mode stages, every chapter after that has a piss easy "story mode" difficulty option. If you just wanted to see the story, I'm really not convinced the main story stages could have really been difficult enough to wall you. Absolutely no one considers the story stages to be high end content.

I do. Don't speak in absolutes, only Siths speak in absolutes.
I mean, I have NO idea how the game is right now, but I dropped it because I couldn't push forward. Simple as that.
Could it be that I was playing it wrong in the end? Of course.
I can't remember where I was when I quit, I think it was just after meeting Frostnova.

    Am I derailing the convo?

Dunno about NIKKE, but Azur Lane has this:

    Chkalov's post-Oath Love line:

*yaaawn*... Commander? How long have you been up? Forgive me, I really went wild last night... It's fine if you don't remember. I don't really either... *yawn*... Your combat gear... It's really nice... Heehee... Zzz...
