  • Save the Queen: Mai Shiranui

This is Mai Shranui of King of Fighters. I'm sure I need no elaborate introduction....

Her rendition here is based off her appearance in Queen's Gate, a collection of artbooks featuring various divas from various fighting games, which is in turn based of a series of artbooks featuring original characters, aka Queen's Blade.

These so-called "visual combat" books are used for turn-based fighting games, where two people with two books compete against one another in some form of combat (sort of like dungeons and dragons, but more action-based), and the payoff usually involves getting to see the opponent's character in some form of provocative pose.

There is a lot of very Japanese fan-service to be found within these books, and while not exactly pornographic, some of it is pretty far out....but the quality of the artists who draw for these books can't be denied.

I really liked Mai's interpretation in her book, and I'd like to do some more of her, and the other Queen's Gate characters, in the future.
