Nah, there was a first neuroi war and then the 2nd. Neuroi go away but because they're aliens they came back. Since the space race comes right after maybe humanity will finally take the fight to the Neuroi homeworld.
The ranks here are translated according to the 少佐 = USAF Major correlation that seems to be popular, which is inconsistent with the Top Gun characters' stated ranks.
LATONA-san's request. These are the Jolly Rogers from the carrier Saratoga. Their Strikers are F/A-18As. Front: Major Tabatha "Ice Lady" Kazanski (age 18); very cool-headed. A fellow soldier of Captain Patty Mitchell; they're good friends and close rivals. Her familiar is a white fox. Back: Lieutenant Rachel "Slider" Kerner (age 17); the Navy's top dogfighter, but a bit odd and a total perv. Her familiar is a python. This is based, of course, on a certain Tom Cruise F-14 film. Drawing the markings on the Navy equipment was pretty fun.
If they are actually USMC units (which does deploy on Navy carriers), then the major rank would be correct. (I'm not really sure myself since Icelady is in Air Force blues while her partner is in woodland BDU).
