See I get the idea of electric stoves. However counter argument, when you've grown up in a place like Florida where hurricanes are a yearly occurrence and the power goes out during them, a gas stove and a lighter is a god send.

That's where having a portable gas stove comes in, like the kind used for the hot pots in anime. As an added benefit cause they're portable you can even take them with you. Not sure how badly tariffs may have impacted their cost, but you could buy one and several canisters of fuel for very cheap at Asian grocery stores.
My parents have a gas stove for the same reason as you, but since my brother gave them a portable stove it's never been essential to stick to having a gas kitchen stove.
Side note, generally the term "electric stove" refers to heating coil stoves as opposed to induction stoves. Induction stoves are more efficient than coil stoves and gas stoves, but more finicky on what types of material your pans are made of and generally don't work on certain types of pans such as woks. While there has been attempts of making an induction wok, seems it's still needs some improvements it's practically criminal the one to hit the market quickly shuts off when you remove the wok from the induction base.
