What the hell. I think the artist is misinformed or I'm not reading this right.

You're not reading it from a foreign perspective. "Pagan" and "heathen" which etymologically mean "rustic" are taken to mean "non-Abrahamic" since forever, but there's no particular reason a Buddhist culture would even have a word for "non-Abrahamic".

My dictionary gives "different religion" as the first definition of "ikyou".

Didn't know that. My bad, since I am a Christian. Changed them accordingly and did some tweaks.

This is like the hundredth time I've seen this discussion of "Ikyou -> Pagan" thing. Every translator should be aware of this.

    The ship is!?
If you want to have a party then just say so.
    ...you see, Shou.
I'm sure it won't hurt if we take part in it for a bit, would it?
    End
I just wanted to have a reason for it.
    Fufu
    Including me.
But, isn't it a wonderful day where you spend time happily with families?
Isn't this a festival from another religion?
It is true that this is from a different religion... I also heard that it's the day they celebrate the birth of it's founder.
As the practitioners of Buddhism, this is something that shouldn't be allowed.
    Hijiri
    You seem happy.
    Everyone's confused.
    What exactly are you doing?
    What's up with that.
    It's something called "Christmas"
    I know, but...
