I think it's because the shape isn't quite entirely retained.

It's cause fat isn't linear. This is an example of what happens when you aren't slender, but you aren't plump either. Or what happens when you lose weight, I forget. But it's one of the more realistically "fat" pictures here. Shame it'll likely get deleted.
