    despite the entire premise of TLR Darkness after Yami's arc being to get him to accept the Harem ending he bitched out and, just like in the original TLR, chose the monogamy route with Haruna.
    Context aside, you can't cuck someone if they have zero romantic or sexual interest in the person that's being "stolen", meaning that it only applies for Lala and Haruna.
    Plus I'm pretty certain they allowed it for the Gridman event, so there's precedence.

    It wasn’t even a resolution in the original. Basically,

    • Rito realizes he loves both Lala and Haruna, but loves Haruna more.
    • Rito explains this to Lala.
    • Lala is 100% okay with this. In fact, she’s overjoyed.
    • Ecchi slime monster hijinks ensue.
    • Rito finally finds the courage to confess his love to Haruna.
    • Except Haruna ran off before he could do so due to more ecchi hijinks.
    • Not realizing this, Rito accidentally confesses to most of the female cast.
    • Lala proposes that Rito marry them all.
    • The series (both manga and anime) abruptly ends. Technically a harem ending, but a very anticlimactic one.

    Yeah, I remember all that. I didn’t finished Darkness but I finished the original, and have very vivid memories of being extremely let down by the ending because it went nowhere and resolved nothing. And apparently they just did that again I guess?? Despite the entire premise of Darkness being making a harem? Why?

    Man, why is it so hard for mangas to have satisfying endings.

    A big problem with majority of harem-theme anime for a long time. If it's not a VN, it is impossible to lead for one ending without stirring the pot (fans)

    Manga hasn't ended yet.

    Both authors stated in the post-Darkness interview that they were taking a break and they are not done with the story. Mind you, that was in 2017, but they both stated that separately.

    It was stated as such, but it will be ridiculously difficult for a manga like Darkness to be released in the coming years.

    They will need to tame it, and the perfect excuse to do that is to choose another MC. Yabuki favored doing a series about Mikan, but he insisted before (when Darkness was just finished) that they didn't want her to grow and go to middle school, which is the reason why Darkness never progressed past a year.
