doesn't work if people comment and we have to SEE it regardless.
you are aware that if you have the tag enabled on your block list it wont show up when you open the comments? are you just looking for something to complain about?
Yeah but not to extend how it is currently getting attention.
Google confirmation bias.

Blacklisting should hide the post in the comments page regardless.

and/or blacklist the uploader
More of a nuclear option because you're hiding their other uploads that are otherwise normal. But you have shared your extensive blacklist before so you probably don't care about that.
I already had particular blacklist already put on, but for some reason I can still see in the comments or else I won't be commenting really quickly.
My blacklist hides posts on the comments page constantly. If you're still seeing these posts, make sure you didn't accidentally disable the blacklist. Otherwise, you should file a bug report, because there's no other reason you should be seeing blacklisted posts, whether on the comments page or in the gallery.

I’m not even sure what this comment thread is about. Why is there a controversy here?
It's really quite simple. People are getting upset because they're seeing things they don't like. And instead of blacklisting the offending images, they're having a cry about it on the comments page. It's as if they hope that if they whine hard enough, Danbooru's administration will do an about-face and forbid this sort of content altogether.
You could copy-paste the above paragraph and apply it any time you see comments on this site complaining about raceswaps, or loli, or futanari, or yaoi, or furry porn. The users making these complaints are all exactly the same. They don't want to use their blacklists, because they're angry about the mere existence of a particular type of artwork on this website, and they can't be satisfied with merely not having to see it as long as they know it still exists.
Unfortunately for them, no amount of whining is going to change the admins' position on deleting posts based purely on subject matter. It's not going to happen.

Maybe if we weren't asking people to blacklist a tag as broad as alternate skin color?
Don't really get how blacklisting the uploader is "the nuclear option" but blacklisting a gen tag that is definitely not a majority this type of content is supposedly perfectly reasonable.

If you have a workable idea for a more granular tag for this please do bring it up on the forum, it is honestly a slight blind spot (even though such a tag won't stop people from crying about it)

I don't remember if a thread was ever made, but there was talk about it in the comments under a post like this and what I remember is several "just use alternate skin color" responses and rejections to whatever suggestions were offered. I wish I had a good idea for it (that wouldn't just stir up even more controversy) but the only ideas that even come to mind are too loaded.
I mean, the logical option, at least imho, is to just call it "raceswapping" because that's exactly what it is, and if this were 10 years ago we probably could have just used that with no issues and we wouldn't be having this discussion today.

I've never suggested blacklisting alternate_skin_color on its own, precisely because it is such a broad tag. At the very least, the people getting irrationally upset about this would be better served by blacklisting one or more multi-tag searches like alternate_skin_color dark_skin thick_lips to narrow down the false positives.
Or better yet, since we all know that it's only a handful of artists drawing this content that keeps pissing people off, what's wrong with blacklisting those artists specifically? I personally have several artists on my blacklist. It is an entirely appropriate way of dealing with artists whose work you don't want to see.

I don't exactly disagree with this take, but the problem is that it's reactive, not proactive. If I wanted to blacklist, say, furry, I shouldn't have to see furries first before stopping what I'm doing to go add another artist to my blacklist. Furries are a very specific and recognizable type of content, I should be able to just blacklist furry and never have to worry about it except when someone neglects to tag it. I shouldn't have to repeatedly add individual artists to my blacklist everytime a new furry artist is uploaded. I shouldn't need to work out a collection of separate tags that will reliably do it, either.
It's the same thing here. There's a point where "just blacklist the artist" stops being fair and reasonable, and I think it's arguable if it ever was fair to ask someone to do that for content that's both trending and controversial. It's basically saying, "Well if you dont like it, then look at it first and then block it." I know a lot of people here are going to argue these aren't comparable, but imagine if we told people to do that for guro art.

I agree having a tag specifically for raceswapping is the way to go. The best solution I could find with our current tags is alternate_skin_color -colored_skin, and that’s only guaranteed to work on solo posts.
Edit: Apparently, this was brought up in the forums a year ago in topic #23784.
