Tawawa on Monday No.514 "Close En-cow-nter"

The original blends/puns kyattoru (cattle) and torareru (to be taken/abducted), possibly with a hint of netorare/cucking. I did the best I could.

This week's topic: Dairy Cow Abduction.

Looks like Alien-chan is gonna get a call to sort this mess out at this rate.

(Also looks like Esper gave a bit of punishment to her "study" friend.)

The guy's glasses are cracked once more. Did she "squeeze" him again after last week's correction attempt?

OK I'll be honest, the extraterrestrials mistaking her for a Cow cause of her "udders" is a pretty funny raunchy joke! XD

Watch these be the same aliens from alien-chan's arc.
They abduct Esper-chan, and her power becomes the bridge that lets them communicate.

I've been in a DM discussion with MarqFJA87 about the translation of the title. Marq feels that the pun should be translated with a more literal approach as "cowbduction," so as not to lose the "abduction" aspect of the joke. I'd considered that option, but felt that "cowbduction" doesn't flow well as a pun in English, sounding a little awkward and forced to me, and thus the humor loses some immediate impact. This is why I went for the more interpretive "close encownter." Marq doesn't feel that "cowbduction" sounds that awkward or loses any significant humorous impact, or at least not enough to outweigh the plus of keeping "abduction" in there.

We're at a bit of an impasse in our exchange, possibly because we're too biased toward our respective choices, so I figured I'd open up the discussion to others here. Puns can be very subjective, obviously, but I'm hoping to reach some sort of consensus.

"Close En-cow-nter" sounds much, much better to me. "Cowbduction" feels like a stretch.

Even in light of the fact that English does already have similar portmanteaus/blends, like "cowtastrophe"?

Cowtastrophe rolls smoothly off the tongue. Cowbduction doesn't.

Encownter is a smoother pun, I think. It rolls off the tongue better, and still preserves the original pun quite well.

Either I have a very different idea of what "rolls off the tongue well" means, or it varies significantly from one individual to the other, because "cowbduction" rolls off the tongue about as well as "cowtastrophe" when I try it.

Except that it loses the implications of alien abduction in favor of the more general meaning of alien encounter; it also overlaps too much with post #7758496, whose title actually translates to "Close Encounter". That is my point of contention.
