Kinda funny that Cirno ended up being the "Asian" swordsman. At least give the double edged sword to Cirno so Youmu can be the samurai.

Thought the same thing. I figured it make sense cause Cirno was introduced in EoSD (if I remember, correctly) and that would make her more of a candidate for "English Swordswoman".

Since when do Shinto priests bear crusifixes? Look more closely at Reimu; she's holding a tiny cross just like Sakuya, and their robes are the same except for color.

Also Marisa's and Alice's robes are likewise pretty much the same except for color. The primary difference between their wands/staves is that Marisa's doubles as a broom. And she keeps the hat for the same reason the others have their distinctive hair ribbons.

And to add my two cents to the "Cirno=East/West?" conversation, between her and Youmu, Youmu's name is actually proper Japanese. "Shiruno"'s name is an Engrish thing like Marisa and Arisu, isn't it?

And Cirno's ice-swords are straight and double-edged, unlike Youmu's Japanese blades.

But it's probably because Cirno's colors match the uniform of the Shinsengumi, a famous group of Japanese samurai.
