Commission: Lelouch vs. IronMan

This is an image that is one of my latest commissions. It was requested by Hellsender He wanted at image of Lelouch Lamperouge from the anime Code Geass in his Knightmare Frame, the Shinkirou; battling with Iron Man in his latest armor type the Resilient. Seems these are two of his favorites and wanted to see them mixing it up.

I've drawn Lelouch and the Shinkirou before, but this was my first time drawing Iron Man. I don't get many commissions for comic characters. It was different, because with this armor it's both mechanical and organic in it's design. It was a nightmare trying to find color pictures of this armor that wasn't so dark. I took some liberties when it came to some segments, but I think the most important parts are there.

I think my scale on Lelouch is off when compared to the Shinkirou. I didn't want him to be too small and I also wanted to have enough of the Shinkirou in the shot. I wanted this to look as if this was a heated battle between the two. I have them both some serious damage. It was also a good excuse to get the cockpit door off the Shinkirou.

This is the first drawing where it was pencil drawn by hand, but completely inked digitally. I'm really loving what I can do with this tablet. The background was my own idea. I could of done a blade sky with clouds or open ocean, but I felt setting it in the skies above the Tokyo settlement gave it some good detail and sense of depth. Since this was my own idea I wanted to try, I cut him a bit of a break on the final commission cost.

icon:Hellsender took this drawing to an anime convention and showed it to some of the voice actors from Code Geass. Seems they liked it enough to autograph it. This is one of the coolest things I think someone has ever shown me that they've done with my work.
