I'm gonna say it, I don't like Zhongli being cryptic all the time.
Like, HE KNEW we had the key to saving Hu Tao in case anything happens, but he decided to wait for us to realize the truth instead of just saying something like "Yo, Hu Tao is in this place, go there, you can save her 100%", or does he think he would keep employment after she dies? Considering he leaves all of his tabs on the Parlor?

Apologies for the necro post, but: I think it's because Zhongli is just such a powerful character in the lore, even without his gnosis. if he stepped in every situation people needed help, then people would fail to grow and adapt on their own. It'd be like playing a new game and having a friend who's max level just 1 shotting everything for you.
So unless Zhongli is absolutely needed (like that event with Xiao and Yelan in the Chasm), I think her perfers to let people figure things out on their own, for their own sake of growth.
I think if the Traveler didn't figure things out in time, Zhongli would have most likely stepped in to save Hu Tao and never mention it.
