    自分の日頃の行いを小傘さんに投影して描いてみようという日記漫画です。

    奥日光に旅行に行くときにはいつも寄るらしい手打ちそば屋さんです。
    夏も寄りましたがおいしかったです。
    そばの味がいまいちよくわからない僕でも、おいしいと感じるおそばでした。
    ちなみに、この店は車じゃないとまず行けない上に、場所を調べていかないとまず辿りつけないような場所にあります(笑)

Is ずる supposed to be noodle-eating sounds? Also, why is there sometimes a small つ at the end of words? I thought it was supposed to mean a pause between syllables within a word.

IIRC the tsu at the end indicates an interruption of speech for some reason. Moonspeaker sure can explain it better.

I'm also dipping into IIRC territory, but a small "つ" can also be a lengthening of a sound (For English, "-" "~" and the like), or adding additional emphasis.

And bah, now I have a hankering for soba noodles...

The half-size つ is a glottal stop. At the end of a word, it indicates an abrupt stop to the sound. In the middle, it acts to double the following consonant (e.g., かた (kata) vs かった (katta)) or insert a brief pause, like one might do in emphasizing the word "impossible" as "Im-possible!")

I see. thank you. Since my school doesn't offer a Japanese course, I've been making a sincere effort to teach myself (with the help of a myriad of online resources). After a month, I understand just how difficult a language it is to learn; as I'm sure you and many others here can appreciate.

    First three panels: red bowl
    Last panel: White bowl?

I think this warrants an error tag unless someone points out what I missed here.

    Roughly, "Short Rest Farms".

I left "Koyasudo" as-is because I thought it was meant to be a family or place name. Is that not so?

This is well late but I have just found you are correct.
The proprietor of this restaurant originally started the business in a small abandoned village known as 小休戸 (Koyasudo). He set up a private electric generator in an unoccupied home and remodeled it, turning it into a soba restaurant. He named the restaurant Koyasudo, but did not use the kanji usually used 小休戸, but instead used the characters 小休止 meaning 'short rest' using an alternative pronunciation of "shoukyuushi". [1]
However, this "Soba-Dokoro Koyasudo" was destroyed in an unfortunate fire in June of 2007. Following this incident, he remodeled another building in a neighboring village, this time a 'nouka' (farmer's house) and restarted his business.
Interestingly, in the past 小休戸 flourished as a stopping point and area for a short rest for those using the mountain pass for transport. That is why the name of the village was also written with the characters 小休止. [2]

Gogō soba (4-5 servings). 五合 = something like "five combo"; I can't find any "official" English for it right off.
