    Let´s Wikiattack!
In aymara culture, Mallku is the spirit of the mountains, hills and high cliffs that surround a village. For them is a protector spirit, unique and particular in each case. It is a source of life thanks to the greening of the valley when he melt the snow from the mountains. He is a protector, punishing bad behavior. Therefore, the man speaks him in prayers and celebrated his presence in the month of January. Is usually represented as a condor bordering on celestial vault on its flights. The mallku Kunturi, Brother Snow, is the mallku inhabiting the frozen heights, the deity of the peaks and heights. They usually appears on the dreams of Yatiris (aymara mages) and tell them the secrets of nature, past, present and future. Mallku is the messenger of the Achachillas (superior spirits). There is a protector spirit lower than Mallku, the Uywiri, the spirit that protects livestock and household

South American Tengu? I am almost certain that the bird there is an Andean Condor, or meant to be one. We could even get more specific and call it an Aztec Tengu...

    Quoting the artist commentary:

    The Condor spirit: Mallku

    and from Wikipedia

Mallku is a title roughly translating as "prince" or "leader" in the Aymara language of South America. They recognise an Apu Mallku as their "supreme leader" or "king". There is also an institution called the Council of Mallkus and Amautas which acts rather like an upper house of the indigenous parliament of the Andes region and consists of four delegates from each of the modern Latin American states that comprise the Greater Collasuyu region.

Goddamn you, now I cannot unthink Mallku getting Touhou'd, with tokin hat and all. A Touhou based on Mallku would be awesome, though.

Thunderbird would probably be an actual bird, though. Touhou does have non anthromoprhized youkai-see tsuchinko and raijuu.

Sometimes, Touhou does anthromorphize some mythical creatures like Kitsune & Nekomata. Maybe Thunderbird has its chance too (since you said about 'actual bird' fact, Thunderbird is now considered myth..& you know well how myth works in Gensoukyou).

Garuda has better chance since some myths viewed it as humanoid.

Technically this should be Aymara_mythology but since they where part of the Inca empire Il just tag it with incan mythology.
