the phrasing was "disagreements with management and company direction", which has been a common echo among other members leaving recently. but it's vague enough that it could mean anything and our energy is better spent not thinking too deep into it and supporting them where they go next.
Pulling this thought from my ass, but I guess the pressure and expectation of having to work in the limelight progressively drained on her. Like, not saying I know how she felt about collabing with the dodgers, but having a supposedly introverted girl go from being an internet memelord, to ‘top’ vtuber, to branching out in activities beyond the internet space with little agency over…it’s tough.

It wasn't "company direction" either. "Difference in direction" is common corpo lingo, and doesn't necessarily mean that the company is going in a new direction, but rather that the "direction" that the corporation wants to take and the "direction" the employee wants to take no longer overlap. This can be due to a myriad of things, including something as simple as the employee simply wanting to do something different. It's used when the deeper reason is meant to be kept private between the affected parties, or if there simply isn't any deeper reason for them to part ways. So far none of the graduated girls have had anything negative to say, so for now I'll take it as them having split on amicable grounds. That aside, I'm sad to see her go, but I hope this can help her with the stuff she's been struggling with over the past 2 years. And if there actually is a connected reason behind the graduations we've been seeing this past year, then I hope Cover will fix it.

ok thank you for correcting me friend i just misremembered what she said is all
No, she said "company direction." I just watched it about 30 minutes ago and went back to double check. She specifically said, "My reasons being: Disagreements with management, and company direction." This is at 3:36 in the video.
Every person that's recently left has cited disagreement with management and/or company direction. I know this is going to enter speculatory territory, but I think it's a very reasonable assumption that this is an issue with idol culture, and specifically the workload that comes with it, and how much time it takes away from the things they actually want to do.
Everyone that's cited "company direction" as their reason for leaving is someone who's introverted, has social anxiety, just wants to relax and chat/play games, doesn't have the drive for back to back big projects, doesn't really have that much to gain by sticking around, or a combination of the above. There's also the matter of the seemingly ever growing list of restrictions, which obviously is going to bother some people more than others. It's annoying when management tells you you can't stream a game you really love because they either couldn't get permission, or having to wait for perms while everyone outside the company is already streaming it.
If we look at someone like Calli, she doesn't seem like idol culture is really her vibe, but joining Cover gave a massive boost to her music career and got her opportunities she probably wouldn't have gotten otherwise. She's also a workaholic and can handle the idol workload. Maybe her other persona could get some of those contracts still if she left, but that's a big gamble and she stands to lose a lot more than she gains.
Gura did not join Hololive to be the face of the company and spend most of the year training for concerts and public events. She practically says as much in her announcement. The stress was doing a real number on her, and if that's what being Gawr Gura was going to be like for the foreseeable future, then it makes sense she had to give it up at some point.
Honestly, Gura gave us a lot more than anyone else has, and being told by Holo's most popular EN talent that she was so stressed she couldn't eat is... a little concerning. Could management really not work out a schedule/workload for her that wasn't so trying on her health?
Part of me hopes Cover has EN5 and JP7 in the works. In the span of less than 9 months, they've lost (or losing) Ame, Fauna, Mumei, Gura, Aqua, Chloe, and Shion. Go back a little further and you can add Mel too. That's enough talent for a generation in each EN and JP.
And how long has it been since ID3 debuted? I still believe we're way overdue for a new gen there too.
Has there ever been a case of an ex-Hololive member's "new identity" collaborating with a current Hololive member? I can see where doing that would be troublesome in the context of how VTuber identities are usually treated, but I feel like Hololive is about to be (or has already gotten) caught in a vicious cycle where the more people leave Hololive, the more motivation there is to leave Hololive just so that you can continue to publicly associate with people you've probably formed an incredibly close bond with. As ex-Hololive talents become increasingly common in the wider VTubing world, Hololive will feel more and more like a walled garden where you'll have a hard time making any connections other than with other Hololive members - because even if you start collabing with a non-Holo VTuber who's not ex-Holo, what happens when they have other friends who are, and now they have to make sure the streams don't cross when trying to set up larger collab events? Being a part of Hololive will feel more and more like a limitation rather than an opportunity, and more people will choose to leave Hololive because of that, resulting in even more ex-Holos and thus the problem getting even worse.
If COVER corp doesn't change their tune on past identities really soon, I fear that Hololive graduations are only going to get more and more frequent, to the point where I wouldn't be surprised if Hololive more or less totally disbands by 2030.

No, but the vast majority of departures happened in the last 9 months. Previously, it was only Coco who remained an active streamer (that wasn't terminated).
Edit- Now that I think of it, does KSon collab with anyone outside of the occasional one-offs?

Someone on Twitter said "disagreements with managment" is Japanese corpo-speak, for when the company wants to take the pressure off the talent and put the blame on themselves. The company itself doesn't explain why or give context, because they don't want to look like they're making excuses. It seems noble and humble to Japanese fans, but it casts suspicion and doubt among non-Japanese fans when they use the same generic excuse over and over again. Just another major cultural difference, I guess.

Mel doesn't count since it was a termination due to an accident, not her own decision.
