...trust me, you don't want Rider taking those glasses off. Thats a MUCH worse idea than any inconvenience from her leaving them on in the bath.

This is true. You really, really, really don't want Rider without her visor or glasses. Well, you could if you wanted everything she looked at to be turned into stone.

Rider's glasses are weird anyway. Having worn glasses for pretty much all of my life, I know how often you look over the glass. She would too, petrifying people in the process.
I mean, look at how tiny those glasses are compared to her eyes.

It's probably more about the symbolism of wearing something over her eyes. It's the super-magic worked into the the glasses that do the work, not any property of the lenses themselves.

The glasses have the magical effect of suppressing her Mystic Eyes while she wears them. Her blindfold (Breaker Gorgon: Self Seal, Dark Temple) instead conceptually suppresses all properties relating to their target (in Rider's case, her eyes and all physical and supernatural properties of her eyes are disabled). The glasses are more convenient in that Rider can see normally while wearing them; they're the same kind that Toono Shiki wears. Without either of these to disable her Mystic Eyes - as indicated in a Bad End - the petrification power affects anyone who looks at her (even mentally; if you're imagining her appearance in your "mind's eye," covering your physical eyes won't keep you from being turned to stone).

By the way, while Rider does sometimes appear in official material without her forehead mark (for example, in her third costume in Fate/Unlimited Codes), she is canonically stated to not have eyelids (hence the need for the blindfold or glasses, since she can't just close her eyes). Should pics of Rider with closed eyes have the error tag?
