Sometimes I wonder, if I had taken him with me when I left Shinra, would everything be different?
"For the next ten years, Sephiroth might not have known where Glenn was, but Sephiroth was everywhere—in war reports and fashion spreads alike. He grew stronger, more radiant, his presence commanding headlines as both a warrior and a cultural icon. His once unpolished demeanor, tinged with a lack of common sense and an otherworldly detachment, had been smoothed into something more calculated, almost human. Yet Glenn knew the truth—his life couldn’t possibly be as glamorous as it seemed.
And still, Glenn hesitated. Was his desire for Sephiroth to leave Shinra born out of concern for him or a tactical urge to eliminate a potential enemy? He could never be certain.
When they finally reunited, Glenn found something achingly familiar in Sephiroth. Sephiroth had grown into his full stature, a man in every sense, yet it greeted him with the same simplicity as always. But Glenn was no longer the man he had been; the years had filled him with caution, his soul weighed down by too many faces and too many regrets.
Did Sephiroth expect him to take him away, even then? Glenn wondered. And if he had acted differently at any point before now—made one decisive choice—could the course of their lives have shifted? Could this outcome, this moment, have been rewritten?"
