I must have not have read the title :/ But even more suprisingly is Patchy's untrained muscle able to withstand the impact. Feedback from such maneuver is a bitch for those who lacked exercise.

Well, she used it on her head a few strips back, when she was used as a youkai baseball bat.
Seems she can position it wherever, much like Reimu can, but it takes some concentration to do so. (Thus the wooden horse attack on Reimu involving a sudden surprise appearance, before she could barrierize her crotch)

In theory, that should make the whole external-controller dynamic significantly more effective. There have been a number of other series that used the "puppeteer uses partner's body as puppet" idea, but one issue is that it means the "puppet" themselves typically isn't actually much good, beyond of course whatever physical abilities they bring to the table.
But in this case, being able to leave her physical movements to Alice could let Patchy focus 100% of her concentration on her magic barrier h4x, while simultaneously not having to be concerned with the traditional weakness of a magician (namely, quickly running up to them and beating them with fists/sword/nailbat before the weedy bastard can get spells off). Like in an coop RTS where one person takes full control of econ/defense and the other offense, two people specializing together can be more then twice as effective as two merely paired up.
With that said, Reimu still has her ridiculous "born genius" ability, immense power, and plot armor going for her, and Remilia is still extremely tough and may be able to recover to an extent, particularly if powered by rage/embarrassment (and if she's one thing, it's proud). I personally expect to see at least a few more back-and-forths before a resolution to this fight, although this being a happy series limits the possibilities a bit.
It seems that after everything that's happened that only Remilia has learned not to be so over confident but Reimu still doesn't acknowledge Kirisame Familiar.

Why should she? She was the original Player character, and Marisa was just a lowly sub-boss, before her upgrade. I wouldn't doubt Reimu considers herself superior then Marisa, but never bothers to acknowledge it because they're friends, but in this case, there is a very real prize on the line and Reimu is in her "Yokai extermination" persona.

which is canonically "too easygoing", even since HRtP. Even when she looks angry, she still looks cute :D
opinions/thoughts: - I would hope that the Watatsuki sisters or Ibara Kasen (or even Vivit) take part on the tournament. But for now I'm enjoying this match :D
- Luckily for Reimu, this series is based on Kinnikuman and not on The King of Fighters, or else, Patchy would've dealt heavy damage (compare her costume throwing with K's Chain Driver move, which -- contrary to the games -- somehow make their victims subconsciously block K's shades, leaving their guards open to his followups)
- While Alice has a good range, she must be careful about deadzones. Wonder if Alice's corner strings will ever be used with Patchy, to drain Reimu's defenses (spirit). Wonder if Patchy plans to hold Reimu with her ability, while Nitori pins Remilia?
