If you ask me, she loves life just a little too much. She will keep her patients alive, come hell or high water, even if that means turning her patients into gurgling blobs of flesh and organs. (Which actually happened at one point in the manga. It was even illustrated!)
Hey ChaosKnight, any reason why you overwrote the notes? They were originally meant to match the original Meet the Spy video. Now it just sounds weird.
Hey! The translations need to be changed back! The comic is just not fun if you can't hear the voices from the video in your head when you read the lines and you can't if the translation isn't the same as the dialogue in the video.
As someone who is in favor of more literal(true) translations, I actually feel this is in error since it wouldn't matter what language this is in, its obviously ment to be an exact parody of the 'Meet the' TF2 cast videos.
Alright, reverting all notes back to my translations, since we are in favour of the previous ones.
I stick to the original "Meet The Team" scripts and sentence structure when the Chinese lines can be reasonably interpreted that way (since they are translated from the original English anyway.)
In general, I prefer smooth dialogue over stilted literal ones, which is why I don't translate stuff like "Yoroshiku" into "Please take care of me." Or add in "will" and "cans" into every single potential form. (The Chinese equivalent would be the adverb "会")
I do sometimes drop in "Translation: Lit" notes if I need to preserve fidelity while giving me some leeway when translating dialogue.
Not to mention that lines like "Your dog is!" just sound like bad grammar.
Has the TF2 character intro videos been translated to Chinese and the comics are based on those, perchance? There's a Chinese TF2 ripoff game called "Final Combat", but those intro vids, while obviously modeled after the TF2 ones, are different enough that it's easy to see the comics are based on the original.
Announcer(Yukari?):INTRUDER ALERT! A RED MAID IS IN THE BASE! Yukka: A RED maid is in the base!? [Grabs her umbrella off a wall rack, then heads to the intel room.] Announcer: PROTECT THE BRIEFCASE! Yukka: We need to protect the briefcase! Aya: Yo, a little help here? Yukka: Stand back, I got it. 1, 1, 1, ummm...1! Aya: Let's go, let's go- Yuyuko: INCOMING! [They all crash through the door, yelling until Aya notices the briefcase is still there.] Aya: Hey, it's still here! Yuyuko: AAAAAAaaalright, then. ???: Ahem. [Everyone looks back at the door to see Sakuya standing there, holding Patchouli over her shoulder.] Sakuya: Ladies? [Meet the Maid] Sakuya: I see the briefcase is safe? Yukka: Safe and sound. Aya: Yeah it is! Sakuya: Tell me, did anyone happen to kill a RED maid on the way here? No? Then we still have a problem. [Sakuya throws Patchouli's corpse on the table, a knife sticking out of her back.] Yukka: And a knife... Aya: Oooh, big problem. I killed plenty of maids,[Begins twirling knife.] dime-a-dozen breast padding scum bags. Like you! [Slips on the knife and cuts herself.] Ow...No offense. Sakuya: If you manage to kill them, I assure you they were not like me. And nothing...nothing like the woman loose inside this building! Aya: What are you, president of her fan club? Sakuya: No...That would be your dog! [Sakuya throws a filled with Momiji/RED Sakuya porn. Aya is speachless.] Sakuya: Indeed. And now she's here to {bleep} US! So listen up girl, or pornography starring your canine companion will be the second worst thing that happens to you today. [Yuyuko shows Yukka a particular photo, causing them both to blush slightly.] Yukka: Oh! Aya: Gimmie that! Sakuya: This maid has already breached our defenses... [FLASHBACK 1: Nitori looks at her sentry, proud of what she's done. Suddenly, RED Sakuya appears around a corner and slides a sapper under the sentry. Before Nitori can do anything, Sakuya throws a knife in her face, killing her.] Sakuya: ...you've seen what she's done to our colleagues! [FLASHBACK 2: Patchouli is busy preparing a new spell. RED Sakuya steps on a floorboard behind her, alerting Patchouli to her presence. The two fight, ultimately leading to Patchouli getting backstabbed and falling out a nearby window.] Sakuya: ...and worst of all, she could be any one of us! [FLASHBACK 3: Eirin tries to hit RED Sakuya with her bonesaw, but the maid disarms the nurse. In a puff of smoke, Sakuya seemingly shapeshifts into Eirin, minus hat, leaving the real nurse speachless. "Eirin" lands a blow on the other's neck, killing her and sending her hat into the air. "Eirin" catches it out of the air and puts it on, completing the disguise.] Sakuya: She could be in this very room! She could be you! She could be me! She could even b- [Sakuya is cut off by a Master Spark, fired by Yukka, blowing her head off.] Aya: WOAH WOAH WOAH! Yukka: What? It was obvious! [Closes umbrella] She's the RED maid! Watch, she'll turn red any second now...aaany second now... see? Red! Oh, wait, that's blood... Yuyuko: So, we still got problem? [Behind them, Aya flicks out the knife from earlier.] Yukka: Big problem... [In a puff of smoke, Aya is revealed to be the RED Sakuya.] Yukka: Alright, who's ready to go find this maid? Sakuya: Right behind you! [TOUHOU FORTRESS 2] [The RED Sakuya shuffles through the pictures of her and Momiji, before picking up one with them walking on a beach.] Sakuya: Ahhh, ma petite chienne.
