Nue is said to be one of the most mysterious and feared youkai, who has been a reoccurring villain for those who exterminate youkai (ex:shrine maidens, witches, other shrine maidens, etc), and has been beaten numerous times. I guess because of that, she grew some human morality. And now faced with someone truly evil, being the hero, if just once, it ain't naughty.

Er, actually it seems more like she's interfering with Byakuren's desire to save youkai and humans. Byakuren's the hero here. Nue's a trouble maker, as always.

If she's desiring to save youkai AND humans, she's going about it all wrong, unless her idea of "saving humans" is to kill them quick to spare them a lingering death...

Did you read the prequel for this? It's right in the pool description. Byakuren is not the good guy here, and same goes for the rest of Byakuren's crew except Nue (if she even joined in the first place). Just a little moment ago, Hijiri was performing genocide on the village. And in the previous doujin, she lets a little girl get devoured by a huge youkai, head first, after the child tried to hug its head in a very brief moment of heartwarming (obviously subverted). Make no mistake, Nue is presented as the hero here, and is about to take on a grimdark version of Undefined Fantastic Object.

Well damn I read this and the previous work both of them taking paragraphs of the canon history of UFO and for once making Byakuren really be a true evil lord that Seiga say she is in TD...

I'm sorry but im gonna make a strange comparison here. It's like.. Nue is like Roxas or Axel and Hijiri is sorta Xemnas. I'm sorry it's just what's rolling through my head. Maybe because I have 'The Other Promise' playing as I see Nue strike down Hijiri.
