cel 240

CEL240 ルビコニアンデスキュベレイ アイビスシリーズ

IB-01: CEL 240

A boss in Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon and a Coral-powered C-weapon developed by the Rubicon Research Institute. This metalic silver coloured autonomous craft is both humanoid and bird-like in appearance with two sets of double flared shoulder armours and reverse-jointed legs, utilises its high mobility and remote controlled weaponry in combat. CEL 240 attacks with Coral based weaponry both melee and ranged, houses 12 Coral Orbit remote weapons in its extended flared shoulder armor in a similar manner to how the AMX-004 Qubeley/NZ-666 Kshatriya uses 'Funnels' from Mobile Suit Gundam.

It is said CEL 240's appearance and combat style is a direct reference to the Qubeley, and its ability to resurrect after first defeat together with its extravagant attack move sets is also a reference to Malenia from Elden Ring, another FromSoftware title.

Due to the lack of voice lines mentioning its actual name and rather hard name for native Japanese speakers to remember, Japanese fans often call it with one of the following names:

  • アイビスシリーズ (Ibis Series), the name mentioned in the boss fight, which is actually a subseries of C-Weapons it belongs to (others being SOL 644 and HAL 826.)
  • Or the fan nickname of ルビコニアンデスキュベレイ (Rubiconian Death Qubeley), as a reference to IA-02 Ice Worm's fan nickname ルビコニアンデスワーム (Rubiconian Death Worm).

Nicknaming Ibis Series also extends to SOL 644 and HAL 826, both of which are usually called with their pilots.
