One of the two protagonists of the original series that kicked off the Kamen Rider franchise.

Hongou Takeshi is kidnapped by the terrorist organization, Shocker, and surgically altered into a cyborg. Hongo, however, manages to escape before being brainwashed to do Shocker's bidding and uses his new power to begin his war against evil as the first Kamen Rider.

After the introduction of No. 2, his gloves and boots are changed from green to white to avoid confusion. In the continuity of Kamen Rider the First, he is dark blue with a white belt. In both the First continuity and in Shin Kamen Rider, his eyes are rendered as whiter than No. 2's.
