salamander

有尾目 サラマンダー 도롱뇽목

A common name for amphibians of the order Urodela. They are typically characterized by their slender bodies, short noses, and long tails.

In legend, they were associated with fire and several ancient writers believed they were born from fire or could consume or otherwise extinguish it with the cold(-blooded) bodies. Many fantastic works use them as a kind of fire elemental.
