Shin Mazinger ZERO is a manga reboot of the original Mazinger Z story by Yoshiaki Tabata and Yogo Yuuki of Akumetsu fame. Compared to the anime Shin Mazinger Shougeki! Z-Hen, ZERO is much darker and tells a separate storyline considering what might happen should the Mazinger Z go berserk. Other characters by Nagai Gou also appear including Kisaragi Honey and the Abashiri Family. The manga is then followed by Shin Mazinger ZERO vs. Ankoku Daishogun.
