super sherman
The Sherman M-50 and Sherman M-51, both known abroad as the "Super Sherman", are heavily modified variants of the M4 Sherman tank used by the Israel Defense Forces from the 1950s to 1970s. They were armed with a high-velocity 75mm (M-50) or 105mm (M-51) main gun imported from France.
The Super Shermans saw use in several conflicts, including the 1956 invasion of the Sinai, the 1967 Six-Day War, and the 1973 Yom Kippur War. They were gradually phased out of use during the late 1970s and 80s, often sold to friendly partners, and some captured Super Shermans were used against Israeli troops during the 1982 Invasion of Lebanon.
