zeong

ジオング MSN-02

The MSN-02 Zeong is a massive Mobile Suit mecha (often classified later as Mobile Armor) from the Gundam franchise. It first appeared in the Mobile Suit Gundam TV series from 1979.

The final Mobile Suit built by the Principality of Zeon during the One Year War, this revolutionary, monstrous unit developed specifically for Newtype use was only 80% complete when deployed into battle by Char Aznable. It famously has no legs, which is explained within the early series as due to the immense weight of the mobile suit meant that surface combat was deemed impossible as the suit would collapse upon itself. Its assets include powerful mega-particle cannons and detachable hands, each finger equipped with a cannon, remote-controlled via the innovative psycommu system.

The completed Zeong, referred to as the "Perfect Zeong", was later released in official material. This version notably has legs, contradicting the initial justification for the lack of one in the early series, though it is explained that it needed one specifically to aid in the weight balance of the mobile suit.
